RICHARD BURT SUPPORTS COMMUNITY ACTION

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire, Richard Burt, yesterday showed his support to Community Action, a Malvern based organisation which provides a vital service for many elderly and housebound people.

Richard spent the day as an escort for ‘ShopAround’, a door to door service which takes people on trips and outings in a minibus adapted for wheelchair users.

Commenting while helping one elderly shopper in Worcester, Richard said:

“Community Action does tremendously valuable work in Worcestershire, helping those who would otherwise be confined to their homes to get out and about.

“It’s clear that many of the people here today see Community Action as more than simply a service for getting their shopping. Trips such as these are something they really look forward to. It’s a chance to get out and see people that they would otherwise miss out on entirely.

“Community Action, like other charities, could always benefit from more help – both financially and from a greater number of volunteers. They provide a lifeline for so many and deserve all the help and support from local and national government that they can get.
