LIBDEMS LAUNCH BIGGEST EVER CONSULTATION ON CRIME IN WEST WORCESTERSHIRE
Local Liberal Democrats and parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt are carrying
out the biggest ever consultation on crime in West Worcestershire. Sir Menzies
Campbell launched the “We can cut crime” campaign today and local councillors
and campaigners will be surveying people asking them for their experiences of
crime.
The Lib Dems have unveiled an effective five point plan to tackle crime in our
area:
1) More police on patrol – don’t waste billions on ID Cards
2) Let communities close pubs and clubs that cause trouble.
3) Make sentences mean what they say – Life should mean life
4) Compulsory work and training in prison – to cut re-offending
5) More compensation for victims – paid for by prison work
Richard Burt said:
“We are bringing the “We can cut crime” campaign to West Worcestershire because
we believe we need effective action in our area to tackle crime. This is the
biggest ever consultation on crime that the Liberal Democrats have conducted.
“Many people are fed up with living in fear of crime. We want to take effective
steps to tackle crime by putting more police on patrol and taking action to take
back our towns and villages making them safer for local families.
“Unlike the Conservatives and Labour who offer meaningless ‘tough-talk’
sound-bites, the Liberal Democrats are proposing effective action to tackle
crime.
“Most people simply do not believe Labour Ministers spinning their latest
sound-bite on crime. After ten years of a Labour Government, it is clear that
Labour haven't managed to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
“We need effective action to tackle crime. The Liberal Democrats offer five
simple solutions. Local people can read more about our campaign at
